PortalCast discussion on The Last Airbender Casting (Yes, it's old)

Okay, so, a while back when I released my video directing people to the whole Aang Aint White movement, I was asked to appear on an episode of Avatar Portal’s PortalCast to discuss the issue of the casting of The Last Airbender in light of its racial implications. Well, I did the podcast, but some technical things delayed it until Dev Patel was recast as Zuko instead of McCartney and so the podcast was shelved. Fortunately, I was recently able to get my hands on the raw audio and have it uploaded where people can check it out.

Please keep in mind that this was back when the cast members of The Last Airbender at the time of the podcast were: Jesse McCartney, Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz, and Noah Ringer. Here it is

EDIT: I think they may be posting it themselves later, but I'm not sure. They were having technical issues but hopefully they'll be fixed soon.

I wanted to address the part of the conversation you had concerning the open casting call. The sheets are posted at www.racebending.com and the problem with it is that it SEEMS as if they preferred caucasian actors due to a VERY poor use of language (i.e it SHOULD have read "all ethnicities" instead of "caucasian or any other ethnicity"). Frankly I don't know what their TRUE intentions were, its just that they sort of failed a sensitivity.

Yes, you're absolutely right. I probably should have made note of that, but alas I must ave forgotten it at the time.

That was kind of the first podcast I'd ever been on, so while I did my best to try and cover as much as I could, I knew there was going to be a certain number of points I was sure to miss simply from a lack of experience. Thanks for listening, though. I hope I did reasonably well at representing the Aang Aint White side of things otherwise.

Oh don't worry you did VERY well =). Its just that some of the points you missed might have allowed you to partially convert the opposing side , even though A) that probably wasn't the intention of having that conversation or B)you guys would probably have to talk for HOURS XD. Anyways good job! The last statement you made really brought it home and I think the podcast proves that the people who are concerned about this just want to see fair casting, as well a proper portrayal of the true spirit of Avatar. *steps off soapbox*

BTW which Aang audition were you all referring to? Do you mean Perris?
