I'll second Silverarmada's comment. The worst drama and internet fights I've seen between fans over fanworks have almost all been between women. Except for some guys who wanted a fanart archive to accept Poser art; one of the admins came down pretty hard on them for that.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to write/preserve the history of women in fandom and their work. There is something wrong with presenting it as the whole history, which the ideology of certain prominent members might push the organization to do. And which its current public statements seem to imply.
